Hi Mayor, Mayor Pro Tem and Council members. Tonight, 13.2 is for us as a Council to appropriate $1,814,600 to use for any community benefit.
In the budget that the City Manager initially presented to us he assigned the $1.8M to:
1. T20: FM 3349 Beautification at $260K
2. F02: PD Facilities Master Plan at $300K
3. T06: Lakeside Estates Sidewalks at $500K
4. T01: Recurring Annual Sidewalk Repair at $550
We are aware that the 3349 Beautification and PD Master Plan are in progress for the FY. However, Lakeside Estates sidewalks were cut to $250K and the recurring sidewalk repairs were cut to $250K as well.
I think it would be wise to fully fund Lakeside Estates sidewalks so that Phase 3 (the FINAL phase) can be complete and that CIP project can be marked as complete. I also think funding general sidewalk repair would be wise as this will be an ongoing to-do for the City.
I'm trying to get the final price that it cost for the City to mill & overlay CR 137 recently. I found an invoice for 282,200 and we approved up to 333,200. I'm trying to get the exact number but for now let's go with the cost of CR 137 being 300K. That money was taken from the Crack/Seal category in the Road Maintenance Fund. I'm advocating that we use 300K of the PID dollars to replenish the crack/seal category so that roads can be maintained at that state.
I hope this begins to start the conversation about allocating this money (for community benefit) to CIP projects and road maintenance.
Looking forward to discussion this evening.
