The Parks Advisory Board met on March 8th and held a special called meeting on March 15th.
During the March 8th meeting new Parks & Recreation staff were introduced to the board. Patrick Tate is the new Parks Superintendent and Bryce Davila is the Recreation Coordinator. Two new Parks Advisory Board members, Milt Reichek and Cory Denna, were also introduced.
The Board also discussed the acceptance of 20.9 acres of potential parkland from the CTC at Emory Crossing. The Board decided to take a site visit on March 15th to see the land for consideration and approved the 20.9 acres.
There was discussion on the possibility of placing the Railroad Depot in a park, continued discussion on the location of a veterans memorial, and review of resident comments on the Fritz Park redesign.
The Board discussed sign possibilities for Adam Orgain Park and will have options at the April meeting that comply with city sign ordinances. Fee schedule changes for Adam Orgain Park were presented, discussed and approved.
As far as project updates, Cottonwood Trail (sidewalk) improvements have been completed and the restrooms at Hutto Community Park are nearing completion. Upcoming projects include the bridge at Fritz Park and tennis court lights at Fritz.
