One question. "What benefit will this plaque provide the Hutto taxpayer?". It would seem to me that the answer is none. It doesn't help with infrastructure issues. It doesn't help with economic development. It doesn't help with the tax burden or cost of living. Typically, plaques are put on buildings to recognize someone very important that was part of the building or funding of the building, or for someone who donated the land for a building or something along those lines.
$4,500 to put a plaque on a building isn't a whole lot of money but sidewalks cost $6 psf to install. Sidewalks are needed by Nadine Johnson and we've been promising sidewalks along 1660 through Old Town, so, we could pour almost 200 feet of 4' sidewalks in these areas (which would help taxpayers), or, we can put a piece of metal on the side of City Hall and call it a day and do the sidewalks later.
I always try the question of "who benefits" when I vote to do something or vote to spend money. Doesn't mean that there are different ideas or thoughts by members on how things benefits the taxpayers, but this one, I can't see any benefit except for the company selling Hutto the plaque.
